About the event

REMbodiment: Let the Body Dream

An introductory movement and witnessing practice inspired by Authentic Movement

Move from the inside out. A practice of inner listening, self-witnessing and embodied expression — while learning a particular framework for witnessing others with presence, care and without interpretation.

About REMbodiment

What happens when you stop deciding how to move and begin listening for movement from within?

REMbodiment is an embodied practice inspired by Authentic Movement — a way of coming into direct experience with yourself through movement, sensation, imagination and witnessing.

There is no choreography to learn, no performance and no particular way you are supposed to move. Instead, you are invited to notice what arises from within and allow the body to respond.

Sometimes that might be a small gesture, stillness, stretching, sound or a larger movement. At other times, people may notice emotion, deep physical sensation, memories, imagery or a waking-dream quality emerging as they move.

The emphasis is not on how movement looks. It is on what it feels like to experience yourself from the inside.

Moving, self-witnessing and witnessing others

An important part of REMbodiment is learning the practice of witnessing.

As a mover, you begin to develop self-witnessing — noticing sensation, impulse, emotion, imagery and movement without immediately analysing, correcting or judging what is happening.

You will also learn how to witness another person through a particular witnessing framework drawn from Authentic Movement practice.

Rather than interpreting someone else's movement, analysing it or deciding what it means, the witness learns to stay with their own direct experience of what they are seeing, sensing and noticing.

The framework offers a way of speaking about what has been witnessed without imposing meaning onto the mover's experience.

Over time, this practice can deepen our capacity for presence, empathy and attention — learning how to remain alongside another person's experience without needing to fix, explain or change it.

Let the body dream

Movement can sometimes open into the imaginal world. You may experience colours, images, memories, symbols or something that feels like a waking dream. For others, the experience may be entirely physical — sensation, energy, breath, stillness or the freedom of allowing an expression that has been held back for a long time.

Nothing has to happen. The practice is about learning to listen.

You might come if you are curious about:

  • developing a deeper relationship with your body

  • moving without choreography or performance

  • learning to trust your own movement impulses

  • exploring sensation, imagination and inner imagery

  • developing a self-witnessing practice

  • learning a structured approach to witnessing another person

  • strengthening empathy and the capacity to be fully present

  • creating more freedom for expression

You do not need to consider yourself a dancer, and no previous movement experience is required.

This first November session is an introduction to REMbodiment. The practice is designed to deepen through returning, with regular monthly sessions planned from the new year.

Facilitation

REMbodiment is facilitated by Caroline Georgiou, a somatic movement therapist/educator and experienced person-centred counsellor whose work brings together embodied awareness, dreamwork, sound, movement and trauma-sensitive practice.

The space is facilitated with attention to choice, pacing, boundaries and non-judgement. You are always free to pause, rest, observe or adapt the practice to your own body.
